Inside the NDIS Bill 2026: five schedules that could reshape the Scheme
Updated: Jul 13
The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 is not a single-policy adjustment. It is a five-schedule reform package touching access, planning, provider regulation, pricing, automated administration and transition arrangements.
What the five schedules cover
Schedule 1 changes access and planning, including functional-capacity assessment, support eligibility, reassessment and suspension rules. Schedule 2 expands fraud, compliance, provider and record-keeping powers. Schedule 3 covers pricing and automated administrative action. Schedule 4 supports framework planning. Schedule 5 manages transition.
Why it matters
The Parliamentary Library describes the bill as primarily directed toward reducing projected expenditure growth and participant numbers while strengthening regulation and governance. The central accountability question is how those system-level objectives will affect individual rights, supports and review pathways.
